The marketplace platform you actually own

Two editions, one engine. Mercur Open Source is the complete marketplace core – MIT-licensed and public. Mercur Enterprise is the same engine, extended and operated for companies running real payments, compliance, and scale in production.

One engine in three layers

Mercur is not a product with a free tier and a paid tier. It is one engine in three layers – and you can see exactly where each one begins.

Your layer

You own it outright. Build your unique logic on official extension points – your customizations live here, so upgrades never overwrite your work.

  • Events
  • Hooks
  • Providers
  • Overridable Pages

Mercur Enterprise

The production layer for payments, compliance, and scale. Fully source-available to licensees, extensible at its own seams. Nothing here is a black box.

  • Command Center
  • Finance & Settlement
  • Subscriptions
  • BuyBox
  • Connectors
  • Audit & identity

Mercur Open Source

A complete, working multi-vendor core – vendors, splits, commissions, payouts, catalog, offers. Inspected and pressure-tested by the global developer community.

The foundation all layers are built on. Everyone knows exactly what belongs to whom. Run on Open Source alone, or license Enterprise when you are putting real payments and compliance into production. Either way, the foundation – and your code – stay yours.

No hidden features. No black box. No lock-in.

The full engine in the open

Open Source is not a teaser or a trial. It is a complete, working multi-vendor marketplace engine – and the code is public, so you can judge the architecture before you ever talk to us.

  • Vendors — Full vendor lifecycle, multi-user stores, and team roles.
  • Orders — Multi-vendor carts that split into per-vendor orders, from a single customer payment.
  • Payments — Rule-based commissions with an audit trail, and vendor payouts via Stripe Connect.
  • Catalog — Per-vendor catalog with custom attributes and fields, offers, and pricing.
  • Operations — Shipping, fulfillment, inventory, returns, and promotions, scoped per vendor.
  • Developer platform — Registry blocks you copy into your repo, a dashboard SDK, a typed client, a CLI, and a one-line plugin.

It is MIT-licensed, and it stays that way – no relicensing surprises, no black box. Any web developer can read it, run it, and extend it.

Where Open Source ends and production begins

A complete engine is the starting line, not the finish. The companies we work with arrive with a checklist. Here is what it asks for – and where each item lives.

What an enterprise RFI asks for Open Source Enterprise
Core functionality — multi-vendor 3P, split orders & payments, commissions, vendor portal, API-first headless core Included Included
Financial operations — settlement that matches the books, balances that equal real payouts, an append-only ledger — Included
Compliance — EU compliance: GDPR & data residency, Omnibus price history, tax codes & invoicing — Included
Security & audit — enterprise SSO (SAML / OIDC), native MFA, an audit trail including a log of every data export — Included
Integrations — into your stack: ERP, PIM, OMS, and storefront connectors — Included
Decision layer — a BuyBox with rules, an approval and command center — Included
Support & SLA — an SLA, disaster recovery, long-term support, and a clean exit — Included

These are the parts that carry real liability: moving money correctly, answering to regulators, and proving what happened when asked. They need a clear owner – maintained, supported, and accountable. That is Mercur Enterprise.

The same engine ready for production

Enterprise is the production layer. It adds five things to the core.

  1. Financial control — An append-only ledger, real vendor balances, statements, invoicing, and settlement.
  2. EU-first compliance — Omnibus price history, tax and invoicing, GDPR and data residency – captured by the data model from the first transaction.
  3. Trust & risk — KYC/KYB, an immutable audit trail, granular role-based access, enterprise SSO and MFA.
  4. Integrations — A connector framework for your stack: ERP, PIM, OMS, storefront platforms, and vendor feeds.
  5. Support & operations — An SLA, maintenance, a published reference architecture, and deployment on any cloud, on-prem, or air-gapped.

What Enterprise is for

Enterprise is for putting a marketplace into production: real payments, real regulators, real scale. The code is yours either way. What you license is a team that keeps that layer correct, maintained, and accountable.

  1. You buy peace of mind — You already have the code. What you pay for is someone to maintain it, test it, upgrade it, and stand behind it with an SLA – on the layer where a bug costs money or triggers a fine. Your team builds product, not marketplace plumbing.
  2. Flexibility is the product — Every module exposes official extension points. Your 20-30% of unique logic lives in your layer – you never patch vendor code, which is exactly what keeps every future upgrade safe.
  3. Provider-agnostic by design — Payments, payouts, KYC, tax, carriers, AI – all swappable by configuration, not a rebuild. Your regional providers plug into the same sockets.
  4. Built right on day one — An append-only ledger, a full audit trail, privacy-by-design, EU-first compliance – captured by the data model from your very first transaction. This history can’t be reconstructed later.
  5. Predictable cost, zero GMV fees — A license you can budget for – not a tax that grows with your success.

No lock-in by design

The biggest fear with any licensed software is getting trapped. Mercur is built so you can’t be.

  • A license that never holds you hostage — Verified fully offline – no phone-home, no license server, so air-gapped is first-class. A license issue never stops production; worst case you lose updates, not your running marketplace.
  • You keep what you paid for — Licensees read and audit every line. If our cooperation ends, you keep the versions you paid for and everything built on them – your data, infra, customizations. You lose updates and support, never your business.
  • You can fork the core — Walk away to the open-source engine anytime. A license buys a maintained, SLA-backed finance & compliance layer – and the team that keeps it correct.
